MOUNT VIEW, NULKABA + CESSNOCK
Possibly one of the best-kept secrets in the Hunter Valley, Mount View is tucked away at the southern border of Pokolbin, nestled amongst the lush green surrounds of the Brokenback Range. Follow Wine Country Drive through Nulkaba, then weave your way up through terraced vineyards and breathtaking scenery to discover hilltop cellar doors and restaurants with some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the region. On a clear winter's day, you can see all the way to the snow-capped peaks of Barrington Tops.
The boutique wineries here produce a wonderful range of varieties - Hunter classics like Semillon, Shiraz, Verdelho and Chardonnay, alongside increasingly popular Mediterranean styles including Barbera, Fiano, Albarino, Tempranillo and Vermentino. It's an area that rewards slow exploration, with warm hospitality and a genuine sense of discovery around every bend.
Nulkaba is the welcoming corridor between Cessnock and the vineyards, while Cessnock itself is the Hunter Valley's largest town and its beating heart. Stroll the decorated laneways, browse local galleries, enjoy the thriving cafe and restaurant scene, and use it as a well-appointed base for exploring the wider region.
